Are you currently planning a wedding? The entire process can be confusing. You’ve probably heard of both wedding invitation cards and save-the-date cards. If you think they’re the same thing, you’re mistaken. It’s a common mistake because these two cards tend to have the similar information. However, they have key differences.

Save-The-Date Cards

Save-The-Date Cards are way simpler than wedding invitations, and they are not required. They serve as an announcement for the upcoming wedding. Usually, couples send them as soon as they chose a firm date and confirm with the venue. They can be sent up to six months before the wedding.

The cards are set to give people ample time to plan. Some people may need several weeks to be able to request the day off for the wedding. Others need to decide on transportation, babysitters, or house sitters.

Wedding Invitation Cards

Wedding Invitation Cards are required and very formal. They need to have all necessary information relating to the wedding such as names, dates, locations, and time. They follow a precise style that correlates to the wedding theme. Indian wedding Cards will be in written in one of the scripts in India and have related images and decor.

These cards also need a reply card. While the save-the-date cards are simply announcements, the invitations are formal requests to attend the wedding. They should be sent relatively close to the wedding date. They’re usually sent up to eight weeks before the wedding day. That’s plenty of time for all the guests to reply and get ready.

While save-the-date cards and wedding invitation cards are different, your planning will look more coherent if they match. Whether it’s a religious wedding, Christian, Muslim, Sikh, or a simple wedding, you’ll find a style for you.
