The Advantages Of Ohio Medical Marijuana Telemedicine Services

by | Apr 22, 2022 | Medical Center

One of the many changes brought about by Covid was a change in the law allowing medical marijuana doctors in the state of Ohio to see patients using medical marijuana telemedicine. As of March 23, 2022, Ohio House Bill 122 makes the use of telemedicine an ongoing option for medical marijuana doctors in the state.

Under the new law, all approved medical marijuana doctors in the state can choose to either see patients in person in their office or to see patients for first-time or follow-up appointments using telemedicine. All patients seen by a state-approved medical marijuana doctor using telemedicine must be physically in the state of Ohio. They must meet all requirements for residency as if they were attending an in-person medical marijuana appointment.

The Telemedicine Requirements

Once signing up for an appointment, the patient must provide all intake forms and information requested in advance of the medical marijuana doctor appointment, just like an in-person patient.

In addition, the patient choosing the option of medical marijuana telemedicine must have video conferencing capabilities of a camera and microphone. This can be on a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer.

The Benefits

There are multiple benefits to medical marijuana telemedicine for both patients and medical marijuana doctors. Patients do not have to travel to the appointment, and they have full confidentiality as they are in their own home or other private location during the video conference.

Saving time and money and making it easy for patients with mobility issues or difficulties in leaving the home, telemedicine is a positive step forward for medical marijuana patients throughout the state.
