The most beautiful options in these woods, including knotty alder, pine and cedar, are a unique and authentic look of rustic craftsmanship. The distinctive feature of these wood species is the knots or burrs that are found throughout the wood. These are slightly to significantly darker than the natural wood and they can be smaller or larger, giving each door a unique look.
Staining with a natural color stain will bring out the beauty in the wood grain, and it will also highlight the changes in the grain around the knots as well as their slightly darker color.
