How Does Film Wrapping Machine Work?

If your business ships products out on pallets, then film wrapping is likely a time-consuming but necessary process. Wrapping products is important because they have a tendency to shift on pallets during shipping. When they are wrapped, they are much more stable and much less likely to break. This device can make the entire process easier by shaving several minutes off your preparation time.

Here’s How It Works.

Film wrapping machines sit on the ground with a large opening starting at about hip height. Loaded pallets are lifted by a forklift, and the pallet is carefully driven into the opening. The driver must ensure that the pallet’s edge closest to him or her is lined up with the front of the machine because this is where the wrapping will begin.

The film must be either secured to the pallet or loaded into an automatic cutter. Then, the machine is activated using a remote. A roll of film is transported all the way around the pallet, securing the products as it unwraps. The forklift operator then slowly backs up which expands the area covered by the wrap. Once the entire pallet has been wrapped, the operator shuts off the machine and cuts the film.

When this process is done by hand, it uses far more resources. Not only is more time consumed but also more film. The machine makes wrapping more efficient and increases the amount of product that can be safely and securely shipped. If your business ships more than a few pallets of product out per day, then a film wrapping machine is a great way to get more product out for less.
