With any piece of equipment, maintenance and repair are part of the territory. Those appointments help to keep that machinery working for a long time to come. Without it, your equipment will stop working sooner rather than later.
If you have a screw-type air compressor, it works a bit differently than the standard type. Still, there are some clear signs that your rotary screw air compressor needs service sooner rather than later.
Overheating
For the most part, every air compressor, even a rotary screw air compressor, should hover between 50-85 degrees Fahrenheit in temperature. When your compressor requires service, it will go above that high threshold.
Overheating can cause serious damage and even cause the compressor to shut down completely. If you notice that your system is hovering high regularly, have it serviced to prevent any further problems.
It’s Tripping the Breaker
Another clear sign that your rotary screw air compressor needs work is if you notice that it is constantly tripping your circuit breaker. This high-capacity induction motor should work smoothly but if there are faulty electrical connections, it can cause a short.
Any shorts will cause the circuit to trip, effectively shutting down the circuit. Not only is this a problem for your electrical system, but it can cause damage to your compressor’s motor as well. Have your compressor serviced before you have to deal with more damage than you could have imagined.
