Combining two different types of cooling systems for any covered outdoor space is a great option. Cool mist fans combine the air moving ability of a fan with the cooling ability of a misting system provides a highly effective way to maintain a comfortable outdoor temperature even on the hottest of summer days.
These types of mist fan systems can be used in restaurants, bars, cafés and also with residential decks, patios, outdoor kitchen and living spaces. They are also a great option for around a pool deck where you may have a covered area such as a gazebo, pergola or a more elaborate roofed area.
Optimum Cooling Ability
The benefit of cool mist fans over typical fans is the misting process allows for the drop in temperature in the ambient air around the misting nozzles of up to 40 degrees. This then allows the downward push of the cool air with the fans which will then expand to cover the radius area of the fan based on fan size and cooling capacity.
This is very different from a basic fan that just blows warm air and boosts evaporation on the skin to create the cooling sensation. However, with the use of the fan with the misting system, there are some important factors to consider for correct placement of each unit.
Consider Obstructions
Remember, the cool mist fans will distribute the cool air over a specific number of feet from the fan if there are no obstructions. Walls, partial walls, fireplaces, large wall planters, corners or L-shapes in the design are going to limit the range of any one fan.
This can be corrected by placing fans on either side of the obstruction, or on both ends or middle sections of an L-shaped area. Talking to a designer from the company manufacturing the misting fans can be instrumental in choosing the right sizes of fans and the correct installation configuration.
