An App is an application which has been designed to work only on Apple® products such as the iPhone® and iPad® tablet, the App is typically developed by a person or a company other than Apple®. There are literally thousands of different Apps, a good example being places to eat Apps. The App itself is similar to software that would be used on a computer as the App allows the phone or tablet user to perform a function that he or she wants. Many Apps are free; others are available by paying a small fee to the developer but whether the App is free or not, it can be quickly downloaded to the user’s device. It truly is the App that makes the smartphone such a desirable device.
The types of Apps:
There are thousands of available Apps; they cover the gamut from simple games, to maps, to guides for entertainment and dining as well as money management tools. Many independent developers have created Apps which can be used for marketing purposes such as finding Places To Eat Apps and then providing a review for the restaurant. Often, the individual who provides the review is then given an electronic coupon that can be used during their next visit. There is literally no end to what can be done with Apps; some, “Angry Birds” as a perfect example have been downloaded many millions of times.
Finding Apps:
Anyone who owns an Apple® device can access the App Store. Once the user is in the store, it is simple to search for the app you want by category. As apps become popular they are selected as editor’s choice and appear on the landing page or highlighted so they are simple to locate and download. When you find an app that interests you, there is also a list of other apps that are similar and have been downloaded by the community. Many apps are heavily promoted on social media web sites.
Developers of apps usually use a free developer’s tool that is available from Apple®; the tool includes a simulator that can be used to test the app for function. Apple® are quite strict as to what apps they will accept as the desire is to provide a useful experience for users.
